Half Of January 2012 Is Gone Already

and I haven’t blogged anything yet!!! So let me change that today. :)

Holiday Season was great. The overflowing food & alcohol is actually taking its toll now. I gained about 4 lbs and I’m devastated!! Today, I’m just sore all over cuz I’ve been working out religiously this week to undo this shameful weight gain.

Christmas, I went to my sister’s house. She’s my only family in Michigan so I go there every year and I always bring my boyfriend (Ryan) with me. And we always have to go to my sister’s house first and then Ryan’s parents’ house after cuz they always have their’s later than my sister’s.

Not to be bias but I  prefer my sister’s take on Christmas festivity vs Ryan’s family. There’s quite a few factors why I say this and I will only elaborate 2 things. (1) My sister really gets into the Holiday decorating. Every corner has some type of Christmas symbol or figurine  (2) She makes a ton of good food man! from scratch! I don’t think she ever sleeps Christmas Eve. So hands down I love spending Christmas at my sister’s! Cuz she puts a lot of handwork on hers.

At my boyfriend’s?? Nah! I don’t even wanna go there. LOL! But I’m pretty sure Ryan would agree with me though.

So here are some of the pics from that day at my sister’s:

The presents! The green box with marker writing is our present for my sister. It’s her Christmas Birthday present cuz her birthday is 5 days after Christmas. So it’s been a tradition that we do it that way also known as the lazy way. :P

Cute little metal tree and view of her backyard. I was quite bummed that we didn’t have a white Christmas. I know 2010 we had a white Christmas. I mean that would be the only time that I actually wish for a foot of snow but it didn’t happen. Ugh!

Ham & Turkey

Turkey is my least favorite meat. So Thanksgiving is also my least favorite Holiday. lol. But, this Turkey that she made for Christmas was the BOMB!! The flavors were just different. It wasn’t… dry? I don’t know. It was just simply delish! My sister is just naturally a good cook period.

L – R  Her sis-in-law made Sea Food Pasta Salad (freaking GOOD!), your generic veggie tray, LUMPIA (Filipino egg rolls), Pancit (Filipino Lo Mein)  & rolls

The CULPRIT!! OMG! This Cherry Cheesecake was irresistible. I don’t think you are human if you can say NO to this. Look at me! I’m drooling writing a caption about this thing. I’m pathetic!

You know what. That’s enough food pictures. Its midnight & I’m having this bad cravings!! Really bad.

So anyway, overall I had a very good Holiday Season. Although my checking account was on life support with all that gift shopping. I think on my part I was a bit too generous. I wasn’t scrimping on gifts. I had good gifts for everyone and it was worth it. Nothing like the feeling of seeing someone so happy after opening their present. It’s a priceless feeling surprising someone and making them really happy. I know it’s not all about material things but to me it’s just good to give someone what they want.

Here are some of the gifts that I bought:

COACH iPad case for my niece. My sister’s daughter. I love her to death especially now that she’s 14 and experimenting with make-up and starting to be so conscious about fitness & diet. Alright that’s another blog post. lol.

COACH cross body purse for my Mom. She said she needed a new one cuz her old go-to cross body purse is falling apart so I found this one for her which happened to be a very good buy. This was an EPIC bargain!! I mean for the books bargain!

And gifts for my bosses & another co-worker. Our gift exchange was very touching and memorable. It involved some tears and lots of group hugs. Quite an emotional moment but it was just beautiful. So that’s another blog post. lol. It was just a great feeling to be working with good people.

So basically that’s my Christmas. I received a lot of gifts. Some were really interesting but I loved all of it. Every year I am thankful for Ryan, my family and friends. So, ‘Til the next Christmas! (if the Mayan Prophecy is wrong. lol)

Holiday Night Out

December 20th, 2011. Tuesday.

Ryan (my boyfriend) and I went to downtown Detroit. We  went to HardRock Cafe to have dinner. It was actually my first time eating there, and of all things on the menu I decided to order from their “Legendary Burger” menu.  Dun Dun Dun..

I am all about healthy lifestyle and fitness and here I am unbashfully ordering burger and fries. Prior to this dinner I honestly only had one burger in the whole year of 2011 and it was because I was trying not to be rude at a friend’s summer BBQ. But since we were at HardRock Cafe and not McDonald’s, WHY NOT?? It’s a $13 burger for Pete’s sake! and USDA certified Angus Beef. lol.

I ended up getting the California Burger and My Oh My! was that the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. It had guacamole and cucumbers in it and I was just savoring that every bite. It was OMG good!

So here’s that infamous platter of goodness:

and here’s my shameless self:

Ryan studying the menu:

The food there was really good. My waistband was crying. I was that full!

And after we ate, we walked around the building , took a few pictures (the camwhore that I am) cuz I saw this cute little Christmas backdrop. But prior to taking pictures I had a little meltdown cuz I realized that the camera battery was completely drained. I was pissed. LOL! Seriously I was.

So I  was forced to settle with shitty grainy iPhone pictures:

Awww! How cute are those bears??  I wanted to steal it. tehee.

Enough of that. After the walking around, we left to go to the main event of our night which was to go ICE SKATING!!! I was seriously like a little kid. It’s been probably 5 years since the last time I put an ice skates on.

here’s me at home testing my skates before we left for downtown (they’re hockey skates actually). A bit too excited. lol.

Campus Martius is Detroit’s version of New York’s Rockefeller Center ice rink. The park looks really pretty at night with all that lights and huge Christmas tree.

Here’s a bird’s eyeview of Campus Martius at night:

(photo from Campus Martius Park FB page)

and here’s garbage shots that we took from my iPhone (Damn you! Battery!):

Excited Moi! :

Ryan & I:

Yeah! I think my shitty phone pics did not give the amazing scenery an ounce of justice or whatsoever. It’s quite sad. So I guess I might have to go back there again and capture better shots.

Overall though, I had an amazing time. That’s what matters most. ‘Tis the season to be spending time with your significant other and family.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

p.s. We took a video and again pardon the phone camera quality.

My First Entry/Introduction

Today is December 20th, 2011 around 1:43 am.  I would like to start this blog that I just created by introducing myself. My name is Miranee, a Filipino young woman living in Michigan, USA.

I have no idea why I decided to get a WordPress.  I guess I’m just curious and I’ve heard or read somewhere a long time ago that this place is the best platform for blogging. So here I am.

I already have a Tumblr (3 Tumblrs. Yeah!) but I am currently/have been slacking with my updates.  Not to sound ungrateful but I am currently not too happy with my audience over there. I mean it’s nice to get followers but they’re not the kind of audience that I really want to connect to.  You know what I mean??  I mean, first of all, majority of them are too young like highschool young.

Anyhow, I am hoping that I see the blogging world in a totally different light over here. I hope this place will make me blog more and talk about substantial things instead of  whining about stupid things on Twitter. lol.  Twitter timeline is tiring sometimes. Especially when you follow stupid and immature people.  Okay, enough about twitter. It’s getting really late here too.

Let me close this FIRST blog entry by posting a picture of moi.

****carefully selects a “good” picture from the hardrive so wait another 30 mins. LOL!!!!**************

This is pretty current. From a few days ago at Macy’s fitting room.

Okay. I’m gonna say GOOD NIGHT!
